A Miami native, Obed Calvaire, percussionist and member of the Clayton Brothers (www.theclaytonbrothers.com), graduated from the New World School of the Arts, a public high school in Miami-Dade County, received a scholarship to attend the Manhattan School of Music and graduated in 2002 having earned his bachelor’s degree in music in three years. Got his masters in 2005. While studying, Obed maintained a busy performance schedule and during the course of his still young career he’s already played with some of the leading jazz artists of the day including Wynton Marsalis, Eric Reed, Buster Williams, Liz Wright, and Mark Murphy.
